The Text Giving platform provides mobile users with a simple and secure method to donate to charity. The charge appears on their mobile bill and 100% of the funds are passed on to charities by their phone provider.
With texting firmly embedded in Australian culture, the immediacy and convenience of donating via text will now enable anyone with an eligible mobile phone service provided by Telstra or Vodafone to donate to their chosen charity anywhere and anytime the mood strikes.
How It Works
Text Giving enables charities to include a text to donate ‘call to action’ in their communications materials and activities. Inspired donors can then simply text the keyword, and the $5 donation amount is charged to their mobile phone bill. It’s a simple and secure way to give and a great tool to help charities promote their cause, fundraise and reach new donors.

Charity Eligibility Criteria
Following a two year pilot with 22 charities across Australia, the Text Giving platform is now available to up to 500 eligible Australian charities.
To join the Text Giving platform, an organisation must:
- Be an Australian registered charity with DGR status
- Hold relevant state-based Fundraising Licences
- Have a minimum annual turnover in excess of $1M
- Adhere to the Text Giving Code of Conduct
- Agree to contribute to the ongoing Text Giving program evaluation
