Dodo Team Help Out At Ronald McDonald House

Vocus volunteers at Ronald McDonald House

Dodo employees spent their day supporting families with sick children at the Ronald McDonald House (‘the House’), in Parkville last week, facilitated by Telco Together.

This enthusiastic community-minded group of 17 employees got together to prepare home-made healthy baked items for families staying at the House. They then cooked up a BBQ lunch which they all enjoyed together. The House is a vital support service for so many local families in need, offering them a place of warmth and inspiration and allowing them to form friendships with others sharing a similarly challenging journey.

The experience gave our busy volunteers insight into the sadness faced by families staying at the House. It gave volunteers an opportunity to give support through hearing families’ stories, spending time together and helping out with the preparation of meals.

They told Telco Together about their experiences:

“Volunteering is my way to give back, be grateful and contribute to what makes Australia so beautiful…that strong sense of community and support while making less fortunate individuals feel included and cared for in any way possible.”

” When I was offered the opportunity to take part, I honestly wasn’t sure how I felt about it until I actually did it. What a great way to be productive, develop relationships and give back.”

“I lead one of 2 baking teams, and produced Gluten free brownies and Dairy free Semolina slice.”

“Great opportunity to give back, draw smiles on people’s faces through cooking.”

“A very fun and rewarding experience!”
