At 9:15am Sunday morning, (around 4:15pm Melbourne & Sydney time), our Telco Together Kilimanjaro warriors reached Uhuru Peak at an altitude of 5,895m, raising almost $30,000 for Australians in need!

Day 5: Final Rest At Base Camp Before Summit Attack Tonight

Day 5 of our trek and today’s (Saturday) hiking destination is School Hut, (or Base Camp), at an altitude of 4,800m, involving a steep 4 hour climb to camp. The weather was fine and clear this morning (Saturday) as we left Third Cave camp at 3,800m, a perfect morning for hiking.

Day 4: Steep Ascent to 4350m & Snow Forecast for Summit Night

As temperatures begin to drop as the team ascends, phone network coverage has become very limited.

Our climbers set off after a hearty breakfast of porridge and toast early Friday morning, with today’s climb taking them to base of Lava Tower at an altitude of 4,642m, followed by descending 700m to Third Cave camp for the night.

Day 3: Rain & Fog Set In as Climbers Reach 3,875m

Three days in and our crew of eleven are still going strong. We set off from Shira 1 camp (3,504m) early yesterday morning, with the sun shining brightly. All were feeling well and in high spirits after our second night camping on the mountain, with overnight lows of around 2 degrees and a few showers.
