Nokia employees keen to give back spent last Friday volunteering for The Exodus Foundation in Ashfield Sydney. The 14 Sydney based volunteers helped prepare and serve meals in the Exodus restaurant, which provides breakfast and lunch to more than 400 people daily, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They also helped out with the sorting and packing grocery bags for individuals who are sleeping rough or struggling to make ends meet.
The Exodus Foundation is a charity that provides innovative, quality welfare, social health, wellbeing, healthcare and healthy nutritious meals to people in need. They also issue food parcels to families on low incomes who are not able to afford food.
Many of those volunteering were doing so for the first time and all found the experience very rewarding with the following feedback received;
"This was a great reminder of how fortunate we are and the simple things that we often take for granted."
"There are a lot of people out there that don't have money for food, or people in their lives to care for and look after them, especially as they get older."
"It was great learning how the Exodus Foundation started and to experience the behind the scenes effort and attitude of those who give such a special experience to people in need every day."
