Why We Created The Survey?

The Telco Together Foundation Charity Research Project aims to capture a meaningful view of the common issues and challenges faced by charitable organisations. Insights gained will be used to define future funded programs that better support Australian charities.

We asked those who work for a charity or NFP organisation to complete our online survey, which asked respondents to share a work challenge in 50 words or less, followed by a series of related questions.

We get the best results from this research when multiple staff from one organisation took the survey.

How The Survey Works

Our online research tool - SenseMaker - works like a short survey, asking you to share a story (or ‘narrative’) about a time when you needed help at work, followed by a series of brief exploratory questions.

It’s quick and easy, with responses remaining anonymous and confidential. Participants could share more than one challenge or story by completing the survey multiple times, (one story per survey completed).

The time required depends on the complexity of each respondent's story, we estimate somewhere between 5-15 minutes is required.

Spreading the Word

Our aim for this research was to get Australia-wide coverage across an extensive range of causes and challenges faced by the Australian non-profit sector. To do this, we asked as many charity and NFP sector staff as possible to take part and received over 200 entries.

We also asked participants to try and get at least five staff from within their organisation take part, and to send the survey link to as many colleagues and charitable organisations as possible.

About the Research Tool - SenseMaker

Innovative and cutting edge research tool SenseMaker is the platform being used to conduct and analyse this research. The SenseMaker approach gives a voice to the issues that matter by recording stories that reflect the lived experiences and challenges of the charity sector. This innovative tool helps makes sense of the data input, by identifying key patterns and trends.

$300 Coles Myer Gift Voucher

Our lucky survey participant who won the $300 gift voucher was Penny, from Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda, Victoria.
Congratulations Penny!
